Nigerian soldiers have successfully killed two bandits during an attempted ransom collection in Mai-Iddo village, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The bandits were trying to collect N1.5 million in exchange for four hostages, including three women and a child, who had been abducted a week earlier.
According to reports, the military coordinated the operation with local vigilantes and a family member of one of the victims. They set a trap for the bandits during the ransom handover.
The soldiers had worked with the person delivering the ransom and positioned themselves in hiding. “When two of the bandits came out to pick the ransom, the soldiers opened fire, killing them on the spot,” a local leader shared.
The operation resulted in the successful rescue of all four hostages, who have since been safely reunited with their families.
