The Federal Ministry of Works has issued a travel advisory to motorists following its earlier announcement of planned repair works on the damaged expansion joints of the Kara Bridge outbound Lagos.

In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Engr. Olayiwola Komolafe, the ministry said the maintenance work will commence on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, and is expected to last for two weeks, ending on 24 March 2026.

To ease traffic congestion during the repair period, motorists have been advised to make use of alternative routes.

According to the ministry, motorists travelling from Ikorodu to Mowe, Sagamu, and Ibadan should drive through Shimawa or Mosinmi.

Those travelling from Lagos Island are encouraged to explore the Epe corridor through Ijebu Ode to reach Sagamu, Ibadan, and Mowe.

The statement also urged motorists to plan their journeys ahead and comply with traffic management instructions around the work area.

“Motorists are reminded that a shorter route may not necessarily be the fastest, and they are advised to plan their journeys early, obey traffic management directives, and drive cautiously around the work zone,” the statement said.

The ministry apologised for any inconvenience the temporary partial closure may cause and appealed for public understanding and cooperation as efforts continue to ensure the safety, durability, and stability of the nation’s road infrastructure.
