The Kano business community and the nation at large have been thrown into mourning following the death of Bature Abdulaziz, a prominent businessman and highly respected community leader from Kano.
Abdulaziz was widely known for his outstanding contributions to trade, business development, and national advocacy.
Over the years, he distinguished himself as a passionate defender of the interests of traders and entrepreneurs, earning him admiration across markets and commercial centres nationwide.
He served as the National President of the Harmonized Traders Union of Nigeria, where he provided visionary leadership and tirelessly championed policies aimed at economic empowerment, business growth, and the protection of traders’ rights.
Under his stewardship, the union strengthened its national presence and played a key role in advancing the welfare of its members across the country.
Beyond commerce, Abdulaziz was a committed advocate of peace and national unity.
He was also the National President of the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace (PENP), an organization devoted to promoting national security, peacebuilding, and constructive political engagement.
In this capacity, he consistently called on Nigerians to embrace unity, dialogue, and tolerance, while repeatedly warning against divisive rhetoric and actions that could threaten the country’s stability.
Colleagues and associates describe him as a man of integrity, wisdom, and selfless service, whose influence extended beyond business into community development and national discourse.
His counsel was often sought on issues relating to trade, security, and governance.
His passing is considered a significant loss not only to Kano State but also to the Nigerian business and civic landscape.
Funeral prayers are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Sunday at his residence in Yan Kaba, Kano.
Family members, friends, associates, market leaders, and well-wishers are expected to attend to pay their final respects and pray for the repose of his soul.
