Popular gospel singer Olubunmi Akinnaanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi, a name inspired by her breakthrough song, has passed away.
Her death was announced on Tuesday via an Instagram statement signed by Olawale Akinnaanu on behalf of the family and shared by fellow gospel artist Ayo Melody on behalf of the family.
The post, which included a photograph and a short video clip of the singer, revealed that she died in a Lagos hospital on January 12, 2026.
The statement read;
“With great sadness, we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, popularly known as Omije Ojumi.
“She passed away on 12 January 2026, at a Lagos hospital, Nigeria. May God grant her eternal rest.”
Although the statement did not disclose the circumstances that led to her death, a video resurfaced on Wednesday showing Akinnaanu, a few months earlier, publicly seeking prayers over a leg ailment.
