Cameroon have set up a quarter final clash against Morocco after defeating South Africa 2-1 in the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Cameroon broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when Junior Tchamadeu capitalised on a corner delivered by Samuel Kotto, firing a low shot home.

Cameroon doubled their lead early after the restart. In the 47th minute, Christian Kofane rose to meet a cross from Aboubakar Nagida, heading the ball into the bottom right corner to make it 2-0.

South Africa fought back late, with Evidence Makgopa pulling one back in the 88th minute, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Indomitable Lions.

Earlier, Morocco ensured their progress in the tournament with a narrow 1-0 win against Tanzania, adding another layer of excitement to the upcoming quarter-finals hosted in Rabat.
