Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have arrested eleven (11) suspected hoodlums at Mariri in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
The suspects, armed with dangerous local weapons, were reportedly on a violent rampage after attending a local traditional festival, attacking residents and dispossessing them of their belongings.
The gang also stormed a nearby NSCDC outpost in Mariri, where they allegedly attacked an officer and left him with a fracture.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at about 0100hrs.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Idris Muhd (20), Abubakar Shuaibu (24), Sagiru Hassan Yusuf (25), Idris Muhammad Morata (25), and Anas Rabiu (23).
Others include Yahaya Muhd Yahaya (29), Khalid Idris (28), Mohd Adamu (19), Muktar Auwal Muktar (22), Salim Muktar (18), and Saifullahi Nuhu (18).
Recovered items include six (6) cutlasses/swords and one (1) pair of scissors.
According to the Corps, its Intelligence and Investigation Department has concluded all necessary investigations, and the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
The NSCDC Kano State Command, under the leadership of Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, reaffirmed its commitment to combating criminal gangs, maintaining public peace, and safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure.
