The Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone One Headquarters, Kano, AIG Ahmed Garba, on Tuesday convened a high-level security meeting with tactical and intelligence commanders from both Kano and Jigawa states.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Bashir Muhammed, the meeting was prompted by a recent spike in banditry attacks in parts of Kano State, raising concerns among residents and security agencies.
During the session, the AIG and field commanders deliberated on strategic measures aimed at curbing the growing insecurity.
They discussed modalities to halt the violence threatening innocent citizens and agreed on a coordinated plan to bolster existing deployments of police personnel from the Kano Command as well as military units already stationed in the affected areas.
AIG Garba reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, calling on the public to support security agencies in their efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities.
He assured the people of Kano and Jigawa states of Zone One’s unwavering dedication to their safety and security.
Citizens were also urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest authorities.
