The Director General, Kano Agenda, Abbas Abdullahi Yakasai, has announced the appointment of the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, as the Grand Patron of the organization, describing his leadership as instrumental to strengthening civic engagement and public enlightenment in the state.

Yakasai made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner in his office, where he presented the official letter of appointment.

He stated that the appointment was in recognition of Commissioner Waiya’s unwavering support for civic organizations and his commitment to the development of Kano State.

The DG explained that their visit was aimed at discussing key developmental issues and expressing the organization’s goodwill and firm support for the 2026 Appropriation Bill.

He noted that the over one trillion naira budget recently presented to the State House of Assembly by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is worthy of commendation, considering its potential to accelerate infrastructural growth, improve livelihoods, and strengthen key sectors.

Yakasai further disclosed that One Kano Agenda has designed two major sensitization campaigns: the first focusing on economic enlightenment to educate residents on government’s efforts in strengthening the state’s economy and improving social amenities; and the second focusing on political awareness to promote the election of leaders genuinely committed to the progress of Kano State.

In his response, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs expressed deep appreciation for the honour bestowed on him by One Kano Agenda, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him through continuous support for initiatives that advance collective progress.

He used the occasion to call on youths across the state to intensify efforts in acquiring quality education, describing it as the most potent tool for social mobility, empowerment, and self-reliance.

Comrade Waiya emphasized that education equips children of the less privileged with the ability to compete favourably in life and earn due respect in society.

The Commissioner also commended One Kano Agenda and other civic groups for identifying the significance of the 2026 budget, stressing that the over one trillion naira budget, the highest in the history of Kano State reflects Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s strong commitment to expanding infrastructure, creating jobs, and enhancing the welfare of the people.

He noted that while the present administration has recorded notable developmental achievements, the 2026 budget signals an even greater scale of projects, with clear emphasis on transformative and people-oriented programmes.

Waiya assured the delegation of the Ministry’s full cooperation and pledged continued partnership with One Kano Agenda in advancing the collective aspirations of Kano State.
