The Federal Government has restated its commitment to transforming Nigeria’s 115 Federal Unity Colleges into centres of academic excellence, innovation, and national unity.
This assurance was given by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, during the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Principals of Federal Unity Colleges held in Lagos.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Ahmad urged principals to rededicate themselves to the mission of reforming and revitalizing secondary education across the country.
He noted that the transformation of the education sector remains a crucial tool for economic empowerment and national development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Minister highlighted curriculum reform, teacher professionalization, and the integration of digital technology as major pillars guiding the ministry’s strategic vision.
According to the minister, the Federal Ministry of Education will continue to strengthen partnerships with institutions such as the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) to ensure continuous teacher certification and capacity building across all unity schools.
Prof. Ahmad further noted that the government is determined to maintain high standards in teaching and learning by promoting innovation driven education and enhancing digital literacy among students and teachers.
