Kebbi First Lady Advocate For Women Empowerment at 79th Session of UNGA

Kebbi State First Lady, Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has advocated for Women’s Empowerment through collaboration with global partners at the 79 session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at its headquarters in New York.

At the UNGA, Nasaare and other Nigerian Governors’ spouses attended two significant side events, the ‘Women at the Hub’ at the Ugandan High Commission and the ‘Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Event.

These events focused on the pressing challenges of women and youth in our societies.

Discussions at the event underscored the urgent need for increased inclusion of women and youth in decision-making processes, emphasizing that their voices are essential for driving change and presenting innovative solutions.

Also, the plight of individuals affected by disasters, banditry, and the need for integration and support for these vulnerable groups was addressed as they are critical to rebuilding lives and communities.

The Kebbi first lady while stressing the need to ensure our policies and programs are responsive to the needs and aspirations of the less privileged, advocated for a robust institution that is capable of implementing more effective policies to empower women, strengthen legal and social framework to safeguard the right of women and youth.
