The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) has honoured the Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, with its prestigious Fellowship award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to infrastructural development and engineering-driven governance.

The award was presented during the Institution’s two-day Annual Conference and General Meeting held in Kano, which brought together leading civil engineering professionals and policymakers from across the country to explore innovative solutions to Nigeria’s infrastructure challenges.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the National Chairman of NICE, Engr. Otunba Ajanaku, commended Governor Yusuf for his visionary leadership and his administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal.

He noted that Kano State under Governor Yusuf has witnessed unprecedented transformation, describing the state as “the largest construction yard in Nigeria today due to people-focused engineering projects and effective governance.”

Responding after the decoration ceremony, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Institution for the recognition, describing the fellowship as an honour that reinforces his commitment to public service.

He reaffirmed that his administration would continue to prioritise quality and standard in all public infrastructure, including roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and urban renewal projects.

The Governor also pledged continued partnership with professional bodies like NICE to ensure transparency, accountability, and technical integrity in project execution.
