President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to Vice President Kashim Shettima on the occasion of his 59th birthday, describing him as a loyal partner and an exemplary leader whose dedication continues to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic journey.

In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, President Tinubu praised Shettima’s courage, tenacity, and unwavering belief in Nigeria’s greatness, noting that these qualities have defined his political career and service to the nation.

The President recalled Shettima’s stewardship as Governor of Borno State for eight years and his subsequent tenure as Senator representing Borno Central in the National Assembly.

According to him, Shettima’s record showed that “leadership is service, not privilege, even in the face of daunting challenges.”

President Tinubu said his decision to select Shettima as Vice President was a choice of competence and character, stressing that his deputy has since lived up to expectations.

“Every day, as Vice President, you have justified that choice by strengthening our work, bringing fresh perspectives, and upholding our commitment to Nigerians,” Tinubu said.

Highlighting their shared efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President noted Shettima’s role in securing global partnerships, advancing food security, and pushing reforms to attract investments.

He added that the Vice President’s partnership would remain vital as the administration seeks to deliver more schools, hospitals, jobs, and trade opportunities for Nigerians.

Beyond governance, Tinubu said their relationship is a bridge across regions and traditions, exemplifying what is possible when national interest comes first. He described Shettima as a leader worthy of emulation by those aspiring to public office.

“On this occasion of your 59th birthday, I wish you renewed vitality, wisdom, and many more years of impactful service,” the President concluded.

Vice President Shettima, who was born on September 2, 1966, has enjoyed a distinguished career in banking, academia, and politics.

He rose to national prominence during his tenure as Governor of Borno State, where he served from 2011 to 2019 before moving to the Senate.
