Barcelona began their La Liga title defence in dominant fashion with a 3–0 victory over Mallorca, showcasing clinical finishing and composure despite a heated contest.
Raphinha opened the scoring with a precise header from a Lamine Yamal cross, before Ferran Torres doubled the lead in controversial circumstances while Mallorca’s Antonio Raillo was down with a head injury. The home side’s woes deepened as Manu Morlanes received a second yellow card for a foul on Yamal, and Vedat Muriqi was later dismissed following a VAR review for a high boot on debutant goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
With Mallorca reduced to nine men, Barcelona eventually sealed the win as Yamal capped off a stellar performance by firing home their third goal in stoppage time.
Summer signing Marcus Rashford made his debut in the 69th minute, becoming the first Englishman to play for the club since Gary Lineker in 1989.
