Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has announced the appointment of a Chinese national, Mr. Li Zhensheng, as Economic Adviser to the state government.
The appointment was unveiled on Thursday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi.
Governor Mohammed said the move was part of his administration’s strategy to position Bauchi as a hub of international cooperation, attract foreign direct investment, and accelerate development across key sectors.
The long-term partnership is expected to open new opportunities in agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade facilitation.
“As part of the agreement, a Bauchi State Representative Office will be established in China to coordinate project implementation and ensure timely delivery,” the Governor disclosed.
He explained that the partnership aligns with the broader diplomatic framework between President Xi Jinping of China and President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, aimed at strengthening cooperation at both national and subnational levels.
“This agreement is not just about infrastructure; it is about transforming lives. We are opening Bauchi to the world,” Governor Mohammed stated, adding that the collaboration would boost investment, create jobs, enhance skills, and modernize critical sectors while increasing the state’s global visibility.
In his remarks, Mr. Li Zhensheng, Chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged full support for Bauchi’s economic transformation.
“We are committed to mobilizing global resources to help Bauchi achieve sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and improved livelihoods,” he said.
The partnership marks a significant step in Bauchi’s bid to expand its international profile and attract large-scale investments for long-term development.
