News Desk

No fewer than 280,000 residents have been enrolled in the Nasarawa Health Insurance Scheme Agency (NASHIA).

The Executive Secretary of NASHIA, Dr. Yahaya Bawa Ubam, stated this during à press briefing on the agency’s achievements, challenges, and future plan in Lafia, the state capital.

He said the enrolment has demonstrated the growing trust and awareness of the scheme’s benefits.

“This has improved service delivery, we have onboarded more healthcare providers across the state bringing affordable, effective quality healthcare services closer to the populace of the state, most especially those in the rural areas and the underserved urban communities,” he said.

Bawa-Ubam explained that due to Governor Mohammed Sule’s administration’s commitment to improving the health sector, the Domestic Resource Mobilization Initiative was launched aiming at enrolling 250,000 poor and vulnerable citizens into the state health insurance Scheme.

He said: “This initiative reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in the race to attain universal health coverage.”

He further appreciated the philanthropists, CBOs, and NGOs for partnering with the agency in providing unhindered access to underserved people through the adoption programs.

Dr. Bawa-Ubam called on spirited individuals to register people to benefit from the health insurance Scheme in the state.
