Women Call on Gov. Bagudu to Implement Inclusive Education for Girl Child

Women have called on Kebbi state government to consider the implementation of inclusive education for the girl child in the state.

Professor Aisha Ibrahim Abdullahi made the call in a paper presentation at a grand reception organized to honor females’ personalities who distinguished themselves in promoting girl child education by Koko Youth Educational Development Association.

Presenting the paper tittle “The important of girl child education in the society,” the guest speaker, professor Aisha Ibrahim from the Department of Curriculum Education, Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), described education as a fundamental right of any citizen, adding that access to quality education will provide the girl child with full potential value and effective standard of living.

She also said statistics has showed that Sokoto has 15% rate of enrolment of girl child education in school while Kebbi State has 30% enrolment rate.  

She therefore called on Kebbi state government to as a matter of urgency implement quality access to inclusive education.

Adding that, the aimed of educating the girl child is to enable her realize her full potentials, contribute to nation building, and also to enable her protect her self against sexual and economic exploitation.

She also expressed concern on the large percentage rate of out of school girls which includes the poor and those with physical disability.

 In her remarks, the wife of the Kebbi State governor, Dr. Zainab Bagudu represented by Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Hajiya Zara’u Wali reassured the State governments commitments to education with emphasis to girl child.

She also said Dr. Zainab Bagudu’s pet project, High Level Women Advocacy was inaugurated to promote girl child education in the state.

In their separate remarks, the member representing Maiyama Koko Besse federal constituency, Alhaji Shehu Muhammed Wambai Koko and Chairman Koko Local Government area, Alhaji Yahaya Abdullahi retreated their commitment to promote and initiate policies that will promote girl child education in the area.

They therefor called on the youths in the area to seek for knowledge in entrepreneurship.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of Awards to the wife of the Govenor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, also an Award was given to the first female Professor in Koko Basse local area, who is also the third female professor in Kebbi state, Professor Mariam Abubakar Koko among other distinguish females of Koko Basse.
