Liverpool lost 3-1 to Arsenal, bringing their Premier League lead to two points. The Gunners had an equaliser as Gabriel Magalhaes’ own goal in halftime cancelled out Bukayo Saka’s opener. However, a mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson allowed Gabriel Martinelli to re-establish the lead before substitute Leandro Trossard fired through the goalkeeper’s legs in stoppage time.

This is Liverpool’s second league defeat of the season, as they struggled to get into the game for most of the first half at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal, without Gabriel Jesus, took the lead against Liverpool for the fourth Premier League encounter in a row. David Raya claimed a routine cross before bowling the ball out to Martinelli, whose pace was enough to see off Konate. However, Saka made amends in the 14th minute, breaking through on goal only to shoot straight at Alisson, with Saka on hand to turn home the rebound.

Arsenal went in level at the break as Gabriel turned the ball into his own goal off his arm after Luis Diaz had outmuscled William Saliba. Liverpool came out for the second half with a more cutting edge, with both Diaz and Curtis Jones getting shots away.

Arsenal retake the lead soon after, with Martinelli collecting and finishing into an empty net. However, Arsenal’s forwards tirered, and Poland defender Kiwior missed a fine chance to make sure of the points when he headed straight at Alisson.
