Ten young men short listed for Nigerian Navy recruitment were confirmed dead in an auto crash in Ringim local government of Jigawa state.
They met their untimely death on their way to Kano state for screaming after being shortlisted for recruitment into Nigerian Navy from Gagarawa local government of Jigawa state.
Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson of Jigawa State Police Command, SP Abdul Jinjiri said, the accident involved a Golf 3 wagon with registration number AA 320 TAR conveying the youth and a DAF Truck with registration number DUT 201 X.
“The fatal accident occurred around 6:00am Saturday 12/12/2020 at Abdullahi Massalaci area along Hadejia- Kano road in Ringim local government of Jigawa state”
He said, the Gulf wagon rammed into the DAF Truck was packed by the roadside after developing mechanical fault, this resulted to the death of 10 people instantly while two sustained injuries.
SP Jinjiri added that, the corpses of the decease have been released to the relatives for burial.
Contacting the Gagarawa local government Information officer, Yakubu Kiri noted that, the Gagarawa town was thrown into mourning since the news of the death of the young graduates broke out a few hours after they left the town hale and hearty.
He how ever confirmed that, all the deceased have been buried according to Islamic rites; their funeral prayer was conducted at the Palace of the District head of Gagarawa.
