The rainy season is predicted to start in the next several days, according to the ministries of health and education, so temperatures should gradually drop.
Climate change has had a negative impact on South Sudan in recent years, as evidenced by reports of excessive heat, flooding, and drought during various seasons.
The nation saw heatwave temperatures last week that reached 45 degrees Celsius (113 Fahrenheit).
Instructors are being asked to limit outdoor playtime to the early morning or inside, open windows in the classroom, give students water during class, and keep an eye out for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke in the kids.
Northern Bahr El-Ghazel, Warrap, Unity, and Upper Nile states were identified by Health Minister Yolanda Awel Deng as the most severely afflicted regions.
Institutions of higher learning are still operational.
Moreover, some rural schools have persisted in operation in spite of an advisory from the minister of education.
