SOSG Organizes N19.6m Layya for Orphans, Indigents

Sokoto state Government has released 19.6 million naira for the purchase of Bulls for Layya, for the Orphans and indigents in the state.

The Chairman of the Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission (SOZECOM), Muhammad Lawal Maidoki disclosed this at the Sultan Palace for the flagoff of the distribution exercise of the funds to 86 District heads in the state.

He said as usual the state Government spent millions of naira every year in its magnanimity to cater for the wellbeing of the Orphans and less privilege amongst its citizens.

Maidoki further explained that this year each of the eighty-six Districts would receive 220,000 naira each for the purchase of the Bull for the Layya offering.

He said any District that so wish to add to what was given is free to do so, as the whole aim of the exercise is to seed blessings from God and as well add value to the lives of the Orphans and the less privilege in the society.

The SOZECOM chairman commended the state Government for its commitment to uplift the standards of the Orphans and needy in the state.

He appealed to well to do in the state to. Complement the effort of the state government in adding smiles to Orphans and other vulnerable groups in the society.

In the same vein, a Turkish charity foundation has also donated 21 Bulls to the state Zakkat and endowment Commission for the same Layya Purpose

In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar warned that no District head should temper with the fund or the meat to be shared, adding that anyone found wanting would be at his own peril.

The Sultan further called for prayer amongst Muslim during and after Sallah celebrations for peace to return in the north and other part of the country.

He said without peace the country would be in jeopardy, saying that prayer is the only option to present predicament it finds itself, more especially in the North.
