Sokoto: Police Operation Deserts Storm Parades 57 Bandits, Recover Weapons, Charms

The Nigeria Police Operation Desert Storm has paraded 57 suspected bandits as part of the ongoing war against terrorism in Sokoto state.

Parading the suspects before newsmen at the State Police Command, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Operations, DIG Zaki Ahamed Gwandu said the suspects were arrested in Illela, Rabah, and Goronyo Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.

He said all those arrested suspects were said to have links with the notorious gang leader Turji as they all confessed to their complicity in the alleged crime.

He said during the operation 23 suspects were neutralized, 37 arrested while Charms, hard drugs, and operational vehicles were taken as exhibits.

According to Zaki, Officers and men of the Nigeria Police were involved in the operation recovered 37 AK 47 rifles, 2 RPG, 2700 Ammunitions, 4 locally made Pistols, 16 Techno phones, 3 sets of Army uniform, 10 Cartons of pentameter injection, and 150 Cows.

“We would continue with the operation until we cover all the affected areas, where bandits and other criminals are carrying their heinous activities,” the DIG said.

A suspect, Musa Kamarawa who specializes in the supply of Arms and Ammunitions to bandits and closed associate of Bello Turji who is on the wanted list has also confessed to the crime.

“All the suspects would be charged to court after a thorough investigation on the alleged crime.” the DIG added.
