Sokoto PHCDA to Recruit 2000 Health Workers

Sokoto State is set to Primary Healthcare Development Agency (PHCDA) is to recruit 2000 middle cadre health workers to man it’s 244 health centres spread across the state.

The special Advisor to Sokoto State Governor on PHCDA, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Umar disclosed this to Stallion Times in an exclusive interview.

He said the Agency is currently undertaking rehabilitation of a number of primary healthcare facilities with a view to conform with international best practice.

He explained that, the Agency is dispensing free drugs to pregnant Women and children under 5 years of age as part of effort to mitigate maternal and child mortality rate in the state.

He said despite Polio free status enjoyed by the state, the Agency is still conducting research and taking samples in areas around the state aimed at maintaining the status.

According to him recently the Agency established a high-powered monitoring and evaluation department to help in assessing the performance of health officials posted to PHC clinics in rural and other urban areas of the state.

He said the State Government despite its meagre resources, has committed huge resources in the area of health care development at the grassroots.

He further stated that the State Government had constructed a health clinic in each of the 244 political wards of the state and provided ambulances for emergency situations.

The SA however commended development partners for their support and contribution to the health sector and in curbing the spread of Covid-19.

“I must commend the effort of the Sokoto State Government for it’s outstanding performance in the control of the spread of Coronavirus, the virus has not been detected in the rural part of the state throughout its incubation period ” says the special adviser.

Alhaji Chika however maintained that, the recently established Medical Diagnostic Center, two premiere hospitals and state university teaching hospital is an added feather to Governor Tambuwal’s quest to improve health conditions of the people of Sokoto and its neighbouring states.
