Speaking to newsmen on Saturday at the residence of Hon Balarabe Salame Bado, a member representing Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency at National Assembly, some members of Sokoto State All Progressive Congress (APC) Vision 2023 disassociated themselves from a stakeholders meeting held in the house of an APC stalwart ahead of the forthcoming wards and state congresses.

Hon. Salame who spoke on behalf of the members of the movement said they are against imposition of candidates at any level of elections in the forthcoming APC congresses in Sokoto state.

He said a situation whereby unpopular candidates were imposed by a political party to the congress members and electorates would not augur well for the party and would result to a total failure.

Hon. Salame, a former acting governor and former speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly urged APC supporters in Sokoto to resist any attempt by some party stalwarts to imposed candidates at the forthcoming wards and states congresses.

He further explained that, himself and other APC stakeholders in the movement were not invited at the purported stakeholders meeting held in the state last week, saying that the so-called stakeholders meeting was held in a house of a stalwart not at the party secretariat as spelt in the APC constitution.

He also said, as faithful supporters of the APC they would not fold arms and see the party structure being turned upside -down by people who have no interest of the success of the APC in the state.

The legislator who is said to be preparing ground for his ambition to contest Sokoto state Governorship election come 2023 is said to have created a division within the APC with the sole aim of destabilizing party in the state.

The present speaker, Sokoto State House of Assembly, Honourable Aminu Manya Achida and Hon. Salame and host of other APC Stalwarts in the state have pitched tents to fight a common cause ahead of forthcoming party congresses and 2023 general elections.

He further stated there and their liked minds in the Sokoto APC were not trying to create division in the party, but were only asking the state leadership to do the right thing in fielding candidates that would be acceptable to APC members at the congresses and the electorates ahead of 2023 elections.
