Nigerian singer Simi has admitted that, despite being married to Adekunle Gold, she never intended to go out with other singers.
The singer recently spoke candidly about her marriage with CNN, admitting that when they first met, she was unaware that her spouse was a budding musician. Simi pointed out how ironic it was that she never intended to date a singer and yet ended up marrying one.
“I understand the irony, and I suppose that was a portion of the task. I had actually made the decision to never date someone in the profession, so I was unaware that he was attempting to pursue a career in singing “She continued, pausing to giggle.
“I didn’t realize he was attempting to be a singer when I met him. He was employed by a company, and people used to refer to him as the king of Photoshop because of his humorous alterations. The next thing you know, I’m getting comfortable and we’re dating,” she continued.
When asked how the couple manages their marriage and singing career, Simi replied that they always find balance and recognize the boundaries between their personal and professional lives.
“I think we’ve been blessed with being on the same page all the time, and when we’re not, we always figure something out,” she remarked. As vocalists, we have a great deal of regard for one another’s abilities and viewpoints. Additionally, we also think it’s important to create boundaries work is work and I think we’ve been able to do very good with that.”
Simi and Adekunle Gold tied the knot in 2019 in an incognito wedding which reportedly took place at Ilashe private beach, and they welcomed their daughter Adejare into the world soon after, in 2020.
