Sen Wamakko Constructs 9 Solar Boreholes in Sokoto North Senatorial District

The Chairman Senate Committee on Defense and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has constructed nine solar-powered boreholes in communities in Sokoto North Senatorial District.

According to a press statement signed by his media aide, Hassan Sahabi and made available to newsmen in Sokoto.

Seven out of the nine boreholes have since been completed, while the two others were at various levels of completion.

The solar-powered boreholes were constructed in Gumbi, Dundaye and Wamakko, in Wamakko Local Government area.

The contracts for the execution of the all-important projects were awarded by the former Governor of the State, who also represents Sokoto North Senatorial District in his effort to alleviate the perennial water problem in the affected areas of his constituency.

The affected communities according to the statement have been experiencing water scarcity for over a decade.

Commenting on the projects, a resident of the area Buhari Jabbi commended Senator Wamakko for the gesture, saying: “Water is life.”

Others areas where the bore holes were completed included Makerar Assada, Sabon Birni, Kalambaina, Dambuwa and Kofar Marke in Sokoto metropolis.
