Ramadan: Kano Adjusts 2021/2022 School Calendar

Kano state government has approved the adjustment of the 2021/2022 school calendar for both Public and Private Primary and Post-Primary Schools operating in the state.

A statement, Tuesday, by the Deputy Director Information at the State Ministry of Education, Aliyu Yusuf said the adjustment followed the outcry of parents and other relevant stakeholders on the need for government to allow their wards to observe complete Ramadan Fast at home during vacation, considering its significance.

According to the statement, one week will be reduced from the 13 weeks earlier scheduled for the 2nd term, while one week will be added to the vacation which was earlier scheduled to be 4 weeks will now be increased to 5 weeks respectively.

By this adjustment, therefore, all Public and Private Primary and Post-Primary Schools operating in the state are to be closed for 5 weeks’ vacation with effect from Friday 1st April 2022 to Sunday 8th May 2022.

The Commissioner of Education, Malam Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id appealed to parents/ guardians to be extra vigilant on their wards during the upcoming vacation, especially at this critical moment of insecurity.

He also urged parents to engage their wards in productive activities as well as to make them busy with extra lessons, listening, and watching educational programs during the vacation.
