Nottingham Forest has filed an official appeal in an attempt to reverse the four-point penalty it received for violating the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR). Due to the punishment, the team fell into the relegation zone; they have now confirmed in a statement that they intend to file an appeal.
A statement from the club said: “Nottingham Forest has officially announced that it has filed an appeal today against the four-point penalty that the Commission issued for the club’s violation of the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Regulations (PSR). At this point, the club has no more statements to make.”

Nottingham Forest’s move may or may not be successful, but they should be aware that Everton had a 10-point deduction down to six after an appeal. The fight to stay in the English Premier League this season is probably going to be greatly impacted by the eventual judgment regarding Forest’s punishment. At the moment, Forest is four points behind Everton in 16th place and one point behind Luton Town in 18th. Yet the Toffees might fall farther down the standings if they receive a second point deduction.
After the international break, Nottingham Forest will play at the City Ground on Saturday against Crystal Palace.
