PEBEC Commits to Support Ease of Business in Northwest

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), has reiterated its commitment to continue collaborating with state governments, businessmen, and other stakeholders to improve the business environment in the Northwest region of Nigeria.

The Special Adviser to President Muhammad Buhari on ease of doing business, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole stated this while speaking at program title “Listen, Implementation, Tracking ” organized for Northwest states aimed at providing a platform for interaction with business communities for effective planning and engagement held at Sir Ahmadu Bello hall, new secretariat Dutse, Jigawa state.

The Special Adviser revealed that from 2016 to date PEBEC has introduced 160 reforms that enhance the business environment in Nigeria and also made it to be twice among the top ten most improved economies in the world.

Dr. Jumoke explained that the “Lituation” project is part of the present administration’s efforts to save 55 million Nigerians from extreme poverty and will be held in six geopolitical zones of the nation.

“Today we are in Jigawa state holding “Lituation” for the north-western state region that includes Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara state to listen to the challenges of entrepreneurs, small- and large-scale business owners and how to improve it”, she said.

She said the council ranked Jigawa among the top three states on ease of doing business added that the Lituation aimed at ensuring ease of doing business are implemented to all entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

The Special Adviser then commended Governor Badaru for providing more infrastructures, empowerment packages, and other policies that provide enabling environment for youths to engage in different businesses for poverty eradication and wrath creation in the state which is in tandem with Federal government economic policies

She then assured more collaboration between federal and state governments to ensure ease of doing business, particularly with digital innovation.

While making his remarks at the event, the Jigawa state governor Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru said, his administration succeeded in discovering 39 areas of ease of doing business in Jigawa state.

He then, commended president Muhammad Buhari for the construction of the power station in Gagarawa and approval for the construction of four more power stations in Kazaure, Babura, Birnin Kudu, and Gwaram which if completed will contribute immensely in providing a more enabling environment for doing business in the state.
