One Feared Dead, Three Others Injured as Thugs Clashed in Jigawa

One person was feared dead and three others critically Inured as two rival faction of All Progressive Congress thugs clashed at road commissioning ceremony held at Babura local government in Jigawa state.

The incident happened few hours to the arrival of Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and his guest, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi state Mr.  Dave Umahi to the venue of the official commissioning of the Babura township road built at the coast of over N3.2 billion.

An eye witness Ibrahim Shehu revealed that, the fight erupted when a thug’s faction from Gumel Local Government (LGA) and one from Babura LGA meet at the venue of the occasion.

He said the thugs used knives and cutlasses to machete each other during which one person suspected killed while three others were critically injured.

According to another eye witness Malam Abubakar narrated that, the clash has been on for quite some time and alleged that it is all about drumming support for a particular candidate for 2023 governorship elections

He explained that it took the intervention of security agents to dispersed the thugs and rush the victims to the hospital.

Stallion Times reports that heavy armed security personnel blocked the entrance to Babura General hospital to avoid reprisal attack.

Some of the friends of the victims seen at the hospital said they mobilised their members to donate pints of blood to rescue the bleeding victims.

The Injured persons were later transfered to Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital as their condition worsened.

When contacted, the state Command Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Aminudeen Zubair confirmed the incidence and disclosed the names of the victims as Sadisu Muhammed, Abubakar Muhammed both from Gumel and Babura LGAs respectively.

The PPRO said they have not received any report of death from the fight which he said was between the political thugs’ groups.
