NPFL: Rivers Utd Beat Kano Pillars 2 – 0

Rivers United Fc beat former Nigeria Champions, Kano Pillars Fc by 2-0 in match day 26 in the ongoing 2020/2021 Npfl season and broke its record of playing ten matches unbeaten.

Sunday Adetunji and Paul Acquah goals at ten and forty-nine minutes of play gave Rivers United the maximum points they were looking in the match.

In his post match interview, Kano Pillars Fc Acting Technical Adviser, Ibrahim A. Musa said his players played a good game but the God of soccer is not on their side.

“My boys played very well despite the heavy rain that affected the condition of the pitch before the kick off, but they didn’t utilize the chances they got while Rivers United Fc got their own and converted them at the right time,” Coach Ibrahim said.

He expressed confidence that he has the quality of players that would win the league at the end of the season.

Coach Ibrahim said although he is not commenting on the officiating, but he has to commend the match officials on how they handled the game.

The Coach said match day 26 has come and gone and their next target is to beat Akwa United Fc in match day 27 in their adopted home ground, Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna on Sunday.

On his part, the chairman of the Club, Alhaji Surajo shaaibu Yahaya jambul advised the players and technical crew to put the 2-0 loss aside and concentrate on the task ahead.

According to the spokesman of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, despite losing the match, still “Sai masu gida” are on top of the table with 48 points in twenty-six matches played so far.
