NPFL 21: Adamawa Utd Force Pillars to 1-1 Draw

Kano Pillars FC started their 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Adamawa Utd FC played at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe on Sunday.

The Sai Masu Gidas took the lead through Rabiu Ali’s thunderous strike in the 13th minutes from David Ebuka’s assist.

The first half ended with Pillars leading by a goal to nil but missed some glaring chances to make the score line more favourable for them.

At the restart, the national champions approached the game with a high tempo but continued to find it difficult to extend their lead.

At the 75th minute, the home side capitalized on Pillars defensive error after Isah Garba’s shot was deflected by Abdullahi Musa to level the scores at 1-1.

The match ended with the four-time NPFL champions picking an important away point off their host.

After the game, technical adviser of the side, Mr. Lionel Emmanuel Soccoia said his target before the match was the maximum points.

“My players failed to utilize the chances that came our way in the first half, the story could have been different, Mr. Lionel lament.

The pride of Kano missed some glaring chances to kill off the game early and the coach said they were paid dearly for failing to convert their chances in the first half.

Mr. Lionel said his main target now is to pick all the 3 points against Katsina Utd and believed the team is gradually restoring their confidence back.

He emphasized that they will sit down and analyse the grey areas identified on Sunday and assuage them to the minimum level before the next game.

On his part, Chairman of Kano Pillars FC, Alhaji Surajo Shuaibu Jambul has charged the team to put more effort in their subsequent matches. The chairman said this during a meeting with the team immediately after the clash with Adamawa Utd.

He commended the team for securing an important away point despite the fact that there were in Gombe for the 3 points.

Kano Pillars FC will on Sunday host neighbours, Katsina Utd at their adopted home, Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna.
