The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has in collaboration with Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) launched motorcycles aimed at checkmating movement and sharing information and data of passengers along Nigeria’s border.

The Assistant Controller General of Immigration in charge of Zone B Kaduna Hajiya Zainab Lawal stated this while launching five MIDAS motorcycles donated by the international NGO, adding that, the said motorcycles would also be used for effective patrol of border areas.

“The MIDAS motorcycles would also assist in prompt sharing available information and data of passengers coming in and going out our country”

“The Nigeria immigration service would partner with relevant stakeholders and organizations in data sharing as well as information of passengers coming in and going out of the country.”

The ACG further stated that she has since commenced a sensitization campaign of communities along the border with a view to keeping them abreast on the dangers of harbouring illegal immigrants in their domain.

“I was in Daura, Zangon Daura, and Kwangwalam all in Katsina state and I expect all comptrollers in the zone to commence a similar sensitization exercise in all local government areas in their jurisdictions “

“The Nigeria Immigration Service has a robust relationship with communities along the Nigerian borders, you hardly hear any clash or misunderstanding between our men and them.”

“We appreciate the kind cooperation they gave us whenever we approach them seeking for any clarification or information on the movement of unauthorized persons along our frontiers.” Says the ACG.

“I urged other Nigerian citizens to support and cooperate with the Nigeria Immigration Service in its effort to secure Nigerian border against the influx of illegal immigrants,” says ACG Lawal
