The Nigerian Government has ordered its national flag to fly at half-mast.

In a statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, President Muhammadu Buhari gave the directive following the death of the former Head of the Interim Government, Late Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan GCFR.

President Muhammadu Buhari directed that the national flag be flown at half-mast, effective from Wednesday, January 12 – Friday, January 14, 2022.

This is a mark of respect for the former Head of State who died on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the age of 85.
