NADDC Has Strategies to Create More Jobs, Empower Automotive Industry – Jelani

The Board Chairman, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Senator Osita Izunaso has said, Federal Government had propelled enabling environment for the Automotive sector to improve, noting that the present retreat taking place in Sokoto is part of the management and board efforts to harness the potentialities of staff.

”NADDC is developing a dynamic and effective directions for automotive industry in Nigeria, therefore, the agency evolves policies, programmes and action drive investment in the sector.

”The agency like other Government organs had faced challenges due to COVID-19 pandemic, however, in spite of that NADDC was able to complete projects and recorded achievements.

”Projects comprised completion of new Lagos and Zaria testing centers, opening of seven zonal offices, completed road project leading to Enugu testing laboratory and established automotive training centers of various stages among others,” said Izunaso.

The Board chairman further added that, the present retreat was aimed at strengthening the achievements and review performances, build workers capacity and identify challenges to ensure desired commitment for effective service delivery to attained the targeted goals of NADDC.

Mr Jelani Aliyu, Director General of National Automotive, Design and Development Council (NADDC) says the agency has been repositioned to provide millions of jobs through automotive industry in Nigeria.

Aliyu said NADDC is capable of providing direct and indirect jobs to Nigerians through various opportunities the sector provided and urged citizens to utilize the advantages.

He stated this at 2021 NADDC Governing Board and Management Retreat held in Sokoto.

The Director General stressed that NADDC has strategies to achieve success in manufacturing of vehicles in Nigeria as well as other accessories.

He said the activity would surely pave way for Nigeria to be on the automotive competitive world which would save nation’s income and enhances revenue generation.

 ”At present the sector provided jobs to about 50,000 people in Nigeria and with advent of electric cars, more investments are being recorded with increased job opportunities along with other economic advantages.

The retreat itemized series of lectures on different topics to be delivered by Dr Abubakar Galadima, Mr Kehinde Adeyemi, Sen. Iyiola Omisore and Mr Emmanuel Kwaya as resource persons.

The Chairman of the Board and other top management of the NADDC rounded their one-day retreat with an inspection visit to Electric car charging point under construction by the NADDC at Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto and mechanical training center and Showroom at Milgoma village, Airport road Sokoto.

The two NADDC projects visited were under construction and at various level of completion
