The Chief of Army staff Major General Taoreed Lagbaja has said that, the Nigerian Army would continue to enhance creativity and critical thinking skills amongst personnel, so as to enable them adopt and confront the evolving security challenges facing the nation.
General Lagbaja made the remarks at the inauguration of a 4 day leadership course for Senior Non Commission Officers (SNCOs) held Monday at Command guest house Giginya Barracks Sokoto.
The Chief of Army staff who was represented by GOC 8 Division Major General Godwin Mutkut said the course is in tandem with COAS Command Philosophy which is to “Transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving their constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment”.
“As a leader at your level, your ability to think fast and exercise command and control of troops placed under you is paramount to the success, growth and development of the Nigerian Army and the country at large”
“I urge you all to take advantage of this opportunity to upscale/develop your leadership skills, in order to enable you discharge your duties more professionally, while operating in joint operational environments.
Commenting in an interview the Director General Nigerian Army resource centre Major General Garba Wahab said the aimed of the 4 day program is to enhance leadership essentials to senior non Commission officers who were commanders at operation units
The course is structured to cover Leadership Framework, Practice in Military Justice System and Inter agency Cooperation among others.
” You can not separate DSS, Police, NSCDC from the the Nigerian Army while working together in an operational environment”
General Wahab further stated that the centre will continue to train and equip SNCOs with relevant leadership essentials to awaken them of their responsibility while operating in a joint environment.
He employ parrtcipants to exhibit high level of commitment, enthusiasm and discipline throughout the duration of the Course.
