In an effort by President Muhammadu Buhari to lift citizens out of poverty through social interventions programs, the Federal Government has engaged 70 Independent Monitors to fast track implementation of the National Social Investment Program (N-SIP) in Kebbi State.
Presenting the engagement letters and Tablets devices to the independent monitors at Shagaliku hall in Birnin Kebbi, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq said each of the independent monitor are expected to routine monitoring of all program under the N-SIP in their assigned Local Government Area and provide evidence-based report on findings in the field.
She also said submission of reports in accordance with the set timelines, attending all trainings and meetings as required by the ministry.
The Minister who was represented by the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Legal Matters, Aminu Shamaki, said independent monitors are not allowed to assign their responsibilities to third parties and Each monitor will be held accountable by the ministry for the task given to them.
While urging them to carry out their assignment with utmost sense of patriotism, diligence and sincerity, he said each monitor would be paid a stipend of #30,000 naira Monthly.
In his remark, the Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Garba Abari represented by the state Director (NOA) Mr Joseph Machika, said the Federal Government had committed a lot of resources to fight poverty in the country,
He warned against any form of default, adding that the agency would also monitor their activities in the state he added.
