Lagos Holds 2023 Budget Consultative Forum in Epe

Lagos State Government held the year 2023 Budget Consultative Forum across the five divisions which were rounded off on Thursday in Epe at the Jubilee Chalets.

The objective was for the citizenry to be abreast with the government activities and its financial affairs in a bid to further bring governance closer to the people at the grassroots.

The event was attended by stakeholders including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Aare Adebayo Sodade; the Director of Budget, Mr Obajomo Ibrahim Amodu; the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation Department, Mrs Elizabeth Akoro; and the Director of Admin and Human Resource, Mrs Mojisola Adeyemi Fashola.

Others were the Chief Resilience Officer/CEO, Lagos State Resilience Office, Dr Folayinka Donia; the Chief Town Planning Officer, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Alaka John Olufemi; and the Pioneer Chairman of ICAN, Epe division, High Chief Charles Keshinro.\

Notably, His Royal Majesty Oba Adewale Abdul, the Olofin Ajaye, Orugbo-Iddo was present at the event alongside High Chiefs, Baales, Market men and women, teachers, farmers, Youth Council and a host of other personalities across Epe division and the State.

The Director of Budget, Mr Obajomo Amodu, during his welcome address, stated that the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwoolu is leaving no stone unturned towards making the state a better place for all to live.

He seized the medium to take people down the memory lane on the year 2022 expenditure and achievements of the present administration which have kept the State blazing the trail.

He further stressed that the year 2023 budget consultative forum held across the division is to get feedback from the people to be inundated with the areas of concentration by the present administration.

Some dignitaries who spoke with the newsmen expressed their concerns and hopes for a better and greater Lagos.

The Iya -Oloja General of Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, Chief (Mrs) Tawakalitu Adeaga, disclosed that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is making an all-round development in the state as regards the economic emancipation of the women.

She reiterated the Governor’s commitment and support towards market men and women throughout the state and assured all that the good works will continue in 2023.

Chairman of the CDC, Eredo LCDA, Chief Olawale Oladega, in his response also thanked Governor Sawolu for his efforts so far in Epe Division.

He solicited more support in the education and health sectors, adding that some roads such as the Yewa road, link roads in Eredo LCDA, and lots more should be fixed.

On his part, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Are Adebayo Shogbade, stressed the significance of the consultative forum organized by the state government.

He said people must be carried along with the government activities, particularly its spending, which he said will further bridge the gap between the government and her people thereby fostering a cordial relationship.

He, therefore, admonished the people of the Epe Division to continue their unwavering support for the present administration.

“We are so particular about Epe this time because of the dreams of the people in making Epe greater than before. We can see things those democratic dividends are being made possible here and, in the state, at large”, he concluded.

Speaking earlier, Oba Adewale Abdul, the Olofin Ajaye, Orugbo Iddo, Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA applauded the government for taking a bold step toward ameliorating the sufferings of the people.

He also thanked the leadership of the government in the state for keeping Epe at heart and asked the people of the Epe Division to support the government and see to its continuity.
