KNSHoA Collaborates with Lafiya Program on BHCPF

Kano State House of Assembly (KNSHoA) in collaboration with Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO Lafiya Program) has organized sensitization workshop on basic healthcare provision fund for effective service delivery in Kano.

While declaring the workshop open at Kaduna, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari said the House will play a vital role to ensure more development on the health sector.

Press Secretary, KNSHoA, Nura Bala Ajingi in a signed statement, Friday, 25 December, 2020 said Rt. Hon. Chidari commended the facilitators of the program for their over sight; he showed satisfaction with provisions of the program.

While delivering lecture on the program, the officials Malam Abubakar Tijjani and Malam Garba Idris said the program will make a good impact on for more funds and accountability in the health sector as well as the need for more laws that will serve as a panacea to some problems bedevilling the sector.

They observed high rate of maternal mortality and morbidity, lack of children nutrition, unavailable drugs at rural clinics and unqualified health staff among others in which he assured to do more on the issues, the statement assured.

Explaining on the content and significance of the program, officials of “Lafiya, UK Program” said:  “The program was designed to partner with Federal Government and five selected States to capture effective health care service delivery to the poor and vulnerable, including training of drug-vendors and rural based midwives.

The deputy speaker Rt. Hon. Zubairu Hamza Massu, leader Hon. Labaran Abdul Madari, Minority Rt. Hon. Isyaku Ali Danja, the out going and incoming Clerks Malam Abdullahi Alfa and Malam Garba Bako Gezawa, Honourable members of the house and staff who participated on discussions at the workshop made contributions aiming to yield positive result in health sector.
