KNSG Commits to Tackle Malnutrition

Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to tackle the problem of malnutrition among children.

The Information officer, Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (SPHCMB), Maikudi Muhammad Marafa in a statement, said the Executive Secretary, SPHCMB, Dr. Tijjani Hussain disclosed the information while declaring a 1-day higher Level advocacy and inception meeting open.

The meeting was for the Integration of Micro nutrient powder for Children of 6 to 23 months into dietary diversity piloted project in the two selected local government areas of Bichi and Sumaila held at Nasarawa Guest Place, Tuesday.

Dr. Hussain represented by the Deputy Director family Health Malam Murtala Inuwa commended the UNICEF and Ministry of Health for organizing the meeting and urged the participants to complied with all the new method so as to complement the state government efforts in tackling malnutrition especially among the children.

In his remarks, the representative of the United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF) in the state Mr. Oluniyi Oyedokun explained that, the meeting aims at discussing the rationale behind the integration of the Micronutrient Powder into the Dietary Piloted Project within two selected local government areas in Kano.

The initiative includes discussions on the modalities for the implementation of project at the selected LGAs.

Mr. Oyedokun then commended the state government for the support and cooperation for the successful implementation of the project in the state.

The highlights of the meeting include paper presentation as well as discussion session on the successful implementation of the project.
