Kebbi House of Assembly on Tuesday impeached Speaker, Abdulmumeen Kamba and the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Muhammad Buhari-Aleiro.
The impeachment was announced by Alhaji Muhammad Tukur, the Chairman House Committee on Information and Culture, shortly after a closed-door plenary session in the state assembly.
He said that the Speaker was immediately replaced by Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Muhammad Abubakar- Lolo (member representing Bagudo West) while the Deputy Speaker was replaced by Hon. Muhammad Usman, member representing Zuru constituency).
Tukur, who did not disclose the reason for the impeachment of the principal officers, said 20 members of the assembly out of 24 attended the session. Plus, the Chief Whip, House Leader, and Deputy House Leader.
All effort to get the reaction of the impeached Speaker and the Deputy Speak proved abortive as the both refused to speak to the press.
Meanwhile, it is the hon member representing Fakai constituency, Hon Haruna Gele that moved for the impeachment.
