According to reports, Karim Benzema stormed out of Al-Ittihad’s training after he refused to work out by himself because of his ongoing feud with Marcelo Gallardo.
The former Real Madrid striker, according to Marca, is still at odds with Gallardo and disregarded the manager’s order to work out alone. The Al-Ittihad manager was not pleased with his actions and decided to keep the French superstar out of the forthcoming Saudi Pro League game against Al-Tai.
The manager reportedly instructed the striker to leave the group training session because Benzema’s level of fitness was not at par with the rest of the team, according to claims from the Saudi Arabian source Arriyadiyah.
The athlete, however, stated that he had finished working out alone during the squad’s preseason camp in Abu Dhabi and that he wished to carry on with the team.
Benzema was seen practicing in the gym on Tuesday among the injured players, suggesting that his dissatisfaction with the team is growing.
Additionally, it’s said that there was very little face-to-face interaction between Gallardo and Benzema on Monday and that their communication has completely broken down.
Since Al-Ittihad’s belated return from the mid-season break, tensions between him and Benzema have been building. Despite rumors in January suggesting he may leave the team, including connections to Manchester United and Chelsea, he eventually stayed.
In an apparent attempt to clear the air and seek clarification on his future, he also reportedly conducted urgent talks with club executives in February. However, it appears that the matter is still open for discussion.
