Kano Police Command Assures of Safety Ahead Supreme Court Verdict

The Kano State Police Command has pledged to uphold the safety and security of residents in anticipation of the Supreme Court Judgement on the Governorship election.

Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel reassured the public during interactive sessions with journalists and media correspondents at the Command’s headquarters in Kano.

He outlined the comprehensive security measures implemented to facilitate the peaceful conduct of affairs before, during, and after the Supreme Court Judgement.

Commissioner Gumel emphasized the following key points:

  • Safety Assurance: The Police Command has assured residents of Kano State that adequate security measures are in place to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Governorship elections.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Commissioner Gumel highlighted the collaboration between the Kano State Police Command and other security agencies to ensure a seamless and crisis-free environment in the lead-up to and aftermath of the Supreme Court Judgement.
  • Operational Order: An effective operational order has been issued to Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers across the 44 Local Government Areas, detailing specific security protocols to be implemented in each region.
  • Strategic Deployment: The Police Command has mobilized armed personnel strategically to various flashpoints, including political party offices, the State Government House, INEC headquarters, banks, commercial areas, mosques, churches, recreation centers, and motor parks. This deployment aims to maintain security throughout the judgment process.
  • Public Assurance: Commissioner Gumel stated unequivocally that law-abiding residents are free to go about their daily activities without fear, as the Police Command is committed to providing 100 percent assurance of security.
  • Surveillance and Peaceful Coexistence: Armed security personnel will be stationed in identified strategic locations to undertake surveillance duties and ensure the provision of physical security during and after the Supreme Court Judgement. Commissioner Gumel highlighted that the security measures are designed to promote peaceful coexistence across all parts of the state.

In a final appeal, Commissioner Gumel called on residents to cooperate with the armed security personnel and share actionable intelligence information regarding any person or group planning to disrupt the peace or engage in violent protests.
