The All-Progressive Congress (APC) Eminent Elders in Kano State also known as APC Masalaha Group has called on the two factions, Governor Ganduje’s group and the other faction led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau to embrace a truce for the common interest of the party in the state.

The Director-General, APC Masalaha group, His Excellency, Alh Yusuf Ado Kibiya in a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat, Kano on Wednesday said his group is conscious of the need to address the incessant problem of inter-party conflicts and to create a platform where peace, stability and harmonious relationship among party members is their mission.

“You may wish to recall that whenever intra-party conflict exists, the end result is often the failure to achieve success during an election.

“Therefore, APC Masalaha seeks the support of all and sundry within Kano APC to sheath their swords to allow peace to prevail for the interest of democracy and successful election results in 2023.

Kibiya said the group wishes to ensure a democratic process at all levels is adhered to, and of course, support fielding credible candidates into political offices thereby ensuring effective service delivery to the people of Kano state.

According to him, looking at the teeming APC supporters in Kano, the conflict can be said to be unnecessary, ill-time, and unwarranted because, at the end of the day, it is the grass that suffers.

He added that the conflict can lead to disunity and disharmony among members, increase chances for the opposition party to win the forthcoming elections, affects the number of votes to be cast at the state and national elections, and defection to other parties.

The APC Masalaha group also called on the APC National Secretariat to address these issues securely and democratically in order to conclude the negotiation, mediation, and reconciliation. It should also the faction away from conflicting perceptions and actions.

“It is our view that the conflicting factions must respect each other’s values, interests, and ambition. Each side should be given a fair hearing and the opportunity to communicate.

“The APC Masalaha shall continue to work hard by ensuring peace, justice, equity and democratic process to prevail so that party members exercise their fundamental rights which the party constitution offer for the betterment of Kano State APC in particular and the nation in general.

“We wish to categorically posit that the interest of all and sundry in Kano state supersede the interest mention therefrom.”

Other members of the group at the press conference are the Director Organization, His Excellency, Kabiru Kamasaka, the Director Publicity and Media, His Excellency, Hamisu Lamido Iyantama, and the Secretary-General, APC Masalaha Group, Prof. Mukhtar A. Yusuf (Banana).
