Jigawa Set to Validate Girl Child Education Coordination and Financial Frameworks

The Jigawa State Commissioner of Education Science and Technology, Dr. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo reiterate government’s commitment towards supporting girl child education (GCE).

Danzomo said education is the responsibility of everyone, especially girls’ education for a better society.

The Commissioner stated this during the three days validation and finalization of the Jigawa girl child education coordination and financial frameworks, organized by Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn (PERL) with the support from FCDO, held in Kaduna state.

The objectives of the workshop are to validate the coordination and financial frameworks of girl education in the state, to develop terms of reference for girl education platform and working committees and to develop implementation plan and monitoring and evaluation M&E tool for the girl child education GCE coordination framework.

Dr. Zakari Zakariya one of the PERL consultants said the goal is to improve the momentum and impact of state wide efforts to improve GCE in Jigawa state.

Zakiriya said the meeting hope to achieve a validation by stakeholders of GCE frameworks.

“Stakeholders have imputed positively on the coordination framework by identifying additional activities and reviewing terms of reference and coverage that are related to the framework,” he added.

The Dutse Emirate representative, Alhaji Jamilu Basiru Sinusi said GCE has benefits not just for themselves but for the society in general and the next generations.

Alhaji Sunusi suggest that there should be total support and commitment for better informed educated women in the society, adding that it is achievable through commitment and support from all and sundry.

On his part, the Director Planning Research and Statistics, Jigawa State Science and Technical Education Board said the event is very educative and would allow the participants to realize the problems, retention and completion of girl education.

He said this will prompt government to allocate more fund particularly for girl child education.

Stallion Times correspondent report that the participants were drawn from various ministries department and Agencies which includes Ministry of education, State universal basic education, ministry of Women affairs, Jigawa state House of Assembly, civil society organizations and the Media.
