Jigawa LG Polls: ÀPC Sweeps 27 Councils, as PDP Wins Birnin-kudu

All Progressive Congress (APC) has won all the 27 local government council Chairmanship election contested on Saturday in Jigawa state.

The result of the election was announced at the headquarters of the local governments by the appointed presiding officers.

Also, APC won 286 Councillor seats while People Democratic Party (PDP) won the set of Councillor of Kiyako Ward Birninkudu local government which is a ward of former state Governor and one of PDP founding Fathers, Alhaji Sule Lamido.

The election was conducted peacefully even though the Kiyako ward result was declared after angry youth held the JISIEC official hostage for several hours.

The youth were said to had protested and took the official hostage to resist any possible attempt to tamper with the election results.

In his comment, The Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar has expressed his satisfaction over the conduct of Saturday election in the state. 

He said, the way and manner in which people in the state conducted themselves during the election is commendable, he than enjoined them to always pray for peace to reign in the state and country.

According to the state Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC), Six political parties participated in the Saturday election.
