Jigawa state government has allocated over 192,000 hecters of land for Agricultural, Social and economic activities to enhance the quality of citizens life and encourage best practices of land administration.
The state Commissioner for Land and Regional Planning, Hon Sagir Ahmad revealed this while speaking at “Media Engagement Forum organized by the Correspondent Chapel.
He explained that, since assuming office, the state Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has come up with various reforms and policies for ease of doing business and also promote effective town planning and land administration in the state.
Hon Sagir Added that, a plan is also under way to establish Jigawa Geographical Information Service for total digitalization of land administration.
“Our target is to promote effective Land administration to make Jigawa state a happiest, habitable, quality and Affordable environment for all.”
According to him, the land allocated include 2,000 hecters for Solar Power Generation Plant Project to be executed by Federal Government in collaboration with Moroco government.
The Commission added that, 640 hecters was allocated to private investors to establish agro-allied industries, other companies and different businesses outfits.
“The Government had equally allocated 934 hecters for the establishment of University and four other Federal government Higher Institutions of learning, while 922 hecters for primary and tertiary health facilities.
“We have also allocated 474 hecters for the construction 8,000 low-income family housing across the state while thousands of hecters were cleared and allocated to large scale, small and medium farmers to boost food production, eradicate poverty and wealth creation in the state.”
Hon Sagir maintained that, as a result of various reforms introduced to improve land administration, the revenue being generated by the ministry has increased by over 100 percent.
