The distribution of Insecticidal Treated Net (ITN) has been successfully conducted in Bebeji, Tudun Wada, and Doguwa local government areas of Kano state.

It could be recalled the ITN and Yellow Fever Vaccination Campaigns have been flagged off by Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje through his Deputy Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna on 9th November 2022 in Gaya Emirate.

As scheduled, one day after the state flag-off, the 44 local government areas of Kano state followed the suit, and distribution of ITN began henceforth to all households across the 848 political wards of the state.

Supervising the distribution process in some areas in Bebeji local government area, the Council Chairman, Hon. Sani Kanti Ranka reiterated his administration’s resolve to complement the state government in the fight against malaria in the area.

He was particularly happy with the way and manner the distribution goes, calling on people of the area to make judicious use of the nets provided to them free of charge upon following procedures of its utilization.

He further enjoined them to ensure that they are vaccinated against yellow fever, noting that the exercise was instituted with the sole aim to fight malaria with all efforts, commending the ad-hoc personnel deployed to the local government for the well-done job.

Hon. Ranka then commended the federal and state governments as well as other development partners for supplying the nets to the people of Kano, assuring that this will go a long way in curbing the spread of malaria in the state entirely.

On his part, the Tudun Wada local government Chairman, Hon. Ahmad Tijjani Musa called on his people to always sleep under the ITN because it is one of the most effective ways of getting themselves and their families rid of the bondage of malaria most importantly among underage children and pregnant women.

The chairman was speaking while supervising the ITN distribution process in some areas of the local government, cherishing the way in which his people have given maximum cooperation to the distributors, buttressing that it is a convincing factor that made the exercise successful more than the previous campaigns.

He assured the support of his administration to the exercise so that his people benefit more so as to maximally record the reduction of malaria cases in the area.

Similarly, the people of Doguwa local government were enjoined to contribute their quota in the fight against malaria by ensuring that they collect their ITN and get vaccinated against yellow fever as well.

The Chairman of the local government, Hon. Mamuda Hudu Doguwa conveyed the message while supervising the distribution process of ITN in some communities in the local government.

The chairman maintained that sleeping under the nets is the surest way of reducing the burdensome malaria cases, especially among children and pregnant women in the country.

Hon. Doguwa eulogized the federal and state governments as well as development partners that have contributed resources in procuring the nets, noting that such a noble cause will help immeasurably in keeping any society healthy at all times.

People in the three local governments spoken with expressed their satisfaction with this season’s method of ITN distribution, pleasingly averring that the door-to-door distribution became a perfect way of reaching out to all households and has eased the collection process.

Some have however expressed concern over the inadequacy of the commodities leaving many without the nets despite the fact that they have been fully mobilized and assured that no household will be left behind, calling on the government to increase the quantity in order to reach out to all households in the local governments.
