FG Moves to Tackles Incessant Fatal Motor Accident Along Widil- Birninkudu Road

The Federal Ministry of Works and Transport has visited some points where over 100 people died as a result of multiple motor accident along Wudil- Birnin Kudu road in Jigawa state.

Speaking to Journalist during the visit, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works, Alhaji Babangida Husaini said they were at the identified points with a view to assess the causes of the accidents.

He said, the ministry has been receiving series of complains about the road particularly some places were accidents have been occurred over the years.

“As you can see this road was constructed over 50 years ago and there is need to be redesign and remove all these unnecessary “Sharp bend Corners” that become a dangerous point to the motorist playing the road.

“In this single corner you can see about 4 different mass graves where over 80 people buried after they burnt to ashes as a result of motor accident.

“In every dangerous corner along the road the story of fatal accident is no longer a new, to tackle the Incessant accidents, the Ministry has sent a team of experts to assessed the road,” he said.

Alhaji Babamgida revealed that base on the technical and engineering report, the work at the site will be divided in to two phases.

According to him, the first phase of the work will cover six kilometers and emphasis will be given to the identified accident flash points.

He then assured motorist the commitment of the federal government under the leadership of president Muhammadu Buhari to make all roads safer for motorists across the country.

Leadership recalled that, last month an accident happened around one of the dangerous corners and 22 people confirmed burnt to ashes including children and pregnant women.
