CCT: 76,804 Vulnerable Household Benefited in Kebbi

The Federal Government has disbursed the sum of   N1,056,200,000.00 One Billion, Fifty-Six Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira only) to over 76,804   poor and vulnerable house holds in Kebbi state as conditional cash transfer program from inception to date.

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Safiya Umar Faruq disclosed this while flagging off cash grant for 4,200 rural women at the presidential banquet hall in Birnin Kebbi.

She said the program is a significant social protection program of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, aimed at uplifting the most vulnerable groups out of poverty, also to rid off one million Nigerians out of poverty in the next ten years.

She said:  so far “Kebbi state has received a total sum of N9,562,205.00 from the Federal Government conditional cash transfer programs   which has impacted the lives of over 76,804 poor and vulnerable persons in the state since 2016 to date.

“Safiya said the social register is expended to cater for poor households in Kebbi state, and 5 local government councils are currently benefiting from the Intervention; these include,  Jega, Gwandu, Bagudo, Shanga and Danko Wasagu.

She also noted that the grant is expected to increase access to financial capital required for economic activities.

A total number of 4,200 beneficiaries are to benefit from the cash grant of #20,000 each to uplift the socio-economic status of the rural women in Kebbi.

She therefore urged   the beneficiaries to make good use of the cash grant to increase their income, enhance their food security, and contribute towards improving their living standard.

In his Remarks, the Kebbi state governor Atiku Bagudu represented by the Secretary to the state government (SSG) Babale Umar Yauri,  thank the minister for bringing the intervention to the state, adding that it will complement the effort of the state government in empowering and  uplifting the Vulnerable in other for them to improve there livelihood.
