CBN Sensitises Bauchi Businesses on E-Naira

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has sensitized Bauchi business community on e-Naira, payments system, consumer protection, currency operations and other policies and programmes initiated by the bank, among others.

Speaking in Bauchi at the CBN’ Fair yesterday, the branch controller, Haladu Idris Andaza said that the essence of the fair is to ensure that Nigerians are educated about the bank’s policies and programmes and learn how they can benefit from them.

Represented by acting branch controller, Salahu Bello Mohammed, who commended the CBN management for its magnanimity in approving that the fair take place once again in Bauchi this year,  implored on participants to pay keen attention to presentations and other activities targeted towards addressing issues, challenges and prospects in the Nigerian financial system.

Also, apex bank’s director of corporate communication, Dr. Isa Abdulmumin assured the customers that CBN will continue to roll out proactive and innovative policies and programmes that would ensure all sub-economic sectors receive the desired support.

He also assured of its continued delivery on its core mandate of ensuring monetary and price stability.

Abdulmumin said that it is designed as a platform to interact with members of the public on the policies and strategic interventions of the bank for a sustainable economic development in the country.

Abdulmumin, who was represented by an assistant director, Mr. Esu Imo explained that the bank has demonstrated the most passionate commitment in supporting businesses and promoting diversification through an array of interventions in agriculture, health, manufacturing and other key sectors of the economy.

The bank’s corporate chief therefore solicited the support and cooperation of everyone in its mission to return Nigeria to the path of greatness, as he asked the fair participants to be attentive in sensitizing them on various modern payment infrastructures for ease of business transactions, as well as their rights and responsibilities as they relates to their relationship with the bank, among others.

“The CBN will sustain its efforts towards ensuring availability of currency. We, however, urge you to see Naira as our critical symbol of national identity. Respect and keep it. Do not spray, hawk, mutilate or counterfeit the Naira”, he concluded.

Also, Elachi Samuel from consumer protection department of the CBN, said that the department from 2013 to end of May 2023 received a total 35,453 complaints from individuals and companies, while they resolved a total 33,437 complaints.
